Just a short newsletter to sprinkle a bit of magic into the last week of 2023!
There's something about the liminal week after Christmas Day until New Year's Day that feels foggy and lazy. It's easy to even forget what day it is. But who can blame us? We deserve a big exhale after family, gifts, food, and get-togethers.
I'm sure like most of us, you’re looking toward 2024 with goals and plans in mind. The feeling of hope and new beginnings that comes with welcoming a new calendar year is empowering. It’s almost like raising energy in a worldwide spell! Even though I'm not one for traditional resolutions, I certainly feel a sense of excitement for the blank slate and possibilities the new year offers. For me, it is a time to set intentions and dream of ideas that may blossom in the year to come.
I would love it if you'd share the intentions, goals, or plans you have in store for 2024!
I always choose a word for each new year. This year, my word is "Nurture". I also do a "Year Ahead” tarot reading for myself, with a card to represent the energy for each month and one main theme card for the entire year.
I'm adding one more new practice this year. It's been said that to know a thing's name is to have power over it. So, I will be naming my year. It can’t hurt to give it a try and see how it goes. Let me know if you decide to name your year, too!
You are what you are and you are where you are because of what has gone into your mind. You change what you are and you change where you are by changing what goes into your mind.

I wish each of you a safe and Happy New Year! See you here on Substack in 2024!
Melissa
Hi Melissa, I thanks for the inspiration. I have chosen 'God' as my word for the year ahead. I know it's weird but that's where I'm at. I also do the year ahead Tarot reading. Twice. Because my birthday is in January. So in December I do a Zodiac Year Ahead Tarot Reading and on my birthday, I do a month-by-month overview. When you say that you name your year, how exactly do you do that? Do you name it Christine (or Kelly or Samuel) or do you name it '2024 is the Year of the Phoenix.' I love the idea of naming the year. That's an excellent of claiming a big chunk of time!
