Dropping in to say hello and happy New Moon in Aquarius!
I've been working with a new tarot deck that was released in December 2023. It's called the Witch Sister Tarot by Julia Jeffrey. It is a stunning deck, and I'm sure I will be dedicating a lot more time to getting to know the magic buried within.
Aquarius corresponds with The Star card in tarot, which has been renamed Ancient Starlight in the Witch Sister deck.
The Star is about healing, clarity, hope, and finding your direction, like a North Star.
I've written a visualization based on the Ancient Starlight card for the new moon (although it can be used at any time) to help with finding answers to a situation you may need answers for.
Take a few deep breaths and clear your mind. Settle in and ready your imagination.
It is the night of the dark moon. You've heard tales of the ancient Deer Mother who walks the land, guiding the deer and anyone else who may be lost back to their path. You've felt unsure lately and are in need of wise direction.
You look up to the stars. They shine even brighter in the absence of moonlight. You are amazed pondering the old ways when the ancestors could read signs in the stars and navigate travel.
You are heading to a circle of standing stones. Ancient myth says anyone who wanders into the circle on the dark of the moon shall meet the Deer Mother and may be granted her aid.
Your bag is draped over your shoulder, and inside, you're carrying an offering for her. Luckily, only patches of melting snow remain, making the walk easier than you'd imagined.
You spot the stone circle, and your heart picks up its rhythm with excitement - and a touch of apprehension.
Stepping inside the circle, the sounds of nature around you suddenly fade and are a bit muffled. The air feels tingly, leaving a buzzing feeling inside your body. However, your mind is sharply focused.
You bring to mind your questions. Think about the main area in your life where you feel you need direction.
Now you see her, the night sky all around, glistening stars behind and above. You blink a few times because it seems there's a gossamer haze surrounding her.
She's directly in front of you, and you're gazing into her vibrant blue eyes. Suddenly, all feelings of hesitancy vanish, leaving only a tranquil presence of mind.
"My child, you are lost," she says.
You nod yes and explain your confusion. She motions for you to have a seat on a large flat stone, which seems to have appeared out of thin air.
The two of you sit together for quite some time. She begins to offer her wisdom. She explains that she can not choose your path for you, but her words seem to work their way into your consciousness, leaving a welcome sense of clarity. The craziest thing is, this conversation is now in your mind, telepathically, without words.
Take as long as you need to gather the messages from her.
You are now sitting with your eyes closed. You slowly open them to realize you are alone. You wanted a chance to thank her for her time and wisdom.
You reach into your bag and pull out the offering you brought for her. As you turn to leave it on the stone, you see a walking stick, very similar to the one the Deer Mother carried.
It is made of knotted wood with powerful antlers attached to the top. As you grasp it in your hands, you notice your own initials carved into the side.
She left it to guide you on your way back home and also as a guide anywhere else you want to go in life.
You always possess this knowledge deep within. This serves as your constant reminder - never doubt that the answers you seek can always be found within your inner place of stillness and belief. You can visit there anytime you wish.
Take some time to journal about your question and any messages you received. Dont worry if you didn't gain clarity this time. Visit this place in the next few days and contemplate your question again. You may also receive answers while going about your normal day or at night in dreamtime.
I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
Thank you so much for reading about the Deer Mother. Until next time, I'm wishing you all the best!
