Hello Magic Makers, welcome to the first newsletter!
Winter Solstice is upon us, time for rest and reflection, yet the holidays can be fairly hectic. It isn’t usually our default as modern day humans to live in alignment with nature. That’s why things like ritual and mindfulness can help us to incorporate seasonal wisdom into our lives.
So pause and take a few deep, relaxing breaths.
Great! Now, settle in for a short journey with The Hermit archetype from tarot. Have your journal handy so you can jot down some notes afterward. I’ve also included some journal prompts.
As you close the door of your cottage behind you, you step out into the darkness of the cold night. A frigid wind rushes by and you tighten your coat around your body. Walking the path into the woods, you hear the crunching of frozen, packed snow beneath your feet.
With only the glow of your lantern to light the way, you walk to the highest point on the cliff, overlooking the still night below. You pay a visit here every year to greet the birth of the new Sun at Winter Solstice.
You spot a deer in the distance. It gazes toward you, as if to acknowledge that it too, is aware of the magic of this long night.
You take time to reflect on the past year. Honoring your achievements, as well as your failures - lessons learned.
Looking to the sky, you envision dreams for the year ahead. You think of desires sleeping within, that you will nurture throughout the winter until time to plant the seeds of Spring.
As the Sun rises, a new hope fills the Earth below. You look to the Sun with thanks for the blessings of new life.

As you turn to walk the pathway back, your mind is filled with joy and contentment. Following the foot tracks in the snow from earlier, you reach your home and step inside.

What is most important to remain steadfast to and nurture during the remainder of the cold months until Spring?
Write a few words/phrases to sum up 2023.
Write a few words/phrases that you would like to set as intentions for 2024.
